Troop 788: Gives A Little Help And More
By Sarah Noyes
Park Hill Elementary Girl Scout Troop 788 is composed of a fabulous group of 22 fourth-graders, who are committed to volunteer time working within their community. At the beginning of the year, the troop chooses a particular organization on which to focus for the year.
This year Troop 788 is working closely with the nonprofit organization called A Little Help. A Little Help connects neighbors across ages to enhance lives and strengthen our community by celebrating older adults as they age in the homes they love.
In the fall, the troop went door-to-door helping educate neighbors on the services A Little Help provides and discussed how people can get involved in the “Service Saturday!” volunteer event. The entire troop and many parents showed up for “Service Saturday!” and raked and cleaned up the yards for two of A Little Help’s elder members.
The troop is organizing a bake sale to benefit A Little Help on Tuesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 18. The sale will happen from 3-4 p.m., on the blacktop at Park Hill Elementary, at 5050 E. 19th Ave. It will feature delicious baked goods made by Troop 788.
In addition to A Little Help, Troop 788 has also raised money for the SAME Cafe, spent come time at the Gathering Place, and always help when and where they can at Park Hill Elementary.
If you’re interested in A Little Help or volunteering at their next “Service Saturday!” events – scheduled on May 30 and June 6 – call their office at 720-242-9032.
