Thanksgiving Giveaway

In 2013, Greater Park Hill Community, Inc held its first official Thanksgiving Giveaway. Now an integral part of the numerous no-cost community food programs we offer at GPHC, our annual Thanksgiving Giveaway tradition — now in its 11th year — is a collaborative effort that unites our staff, board members, donors, neighbors, partners and tireless volunteers, all of whom are instrumental in distributing free Thanksgiving food boxes for upwards of 400 in-need families — including elementary school students, low-income housing residents and our own pantry families. Last year we provided nearly 1,500 meals and 400 King Soopers gift cards, received 164 donations, raised $15,000 and distributed 175 pies, 200 bags of dinner rolls and 5,400 cans and packages of Thanksgiving essentials. There are multiple volunteer opportunities—including collecting and sorting food, assembling boxes and distributing Thanksgiving boxes to our homebound clients, students and seniors.

By volunteering your time, hosting a food drive, donating food, supermarket gift cards or contributing monetary gifts, you are feeding those who need it most. If you’d like to volunteer for our Thanksgiving Giveaway, please visit our SignUp Genius link. We need volunteers between November 1 and November 21.

Register to Receive aN INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY Box

Registration for Thanksgiving boxes begins on Monday, October 2.  Please call 303-388-0918 or stop by the office on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to sign up for your food choices. The cutoff date to order a Thanksgiving box is Wednesday, November 15 at noon.

Boxes are distributed on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and your specific pickup window is based on the first initial of your last name



Make a financial contribution to our Food Programs

Funds contributed through our online giving form directly support our food programs, including all food purchased for our Thanksgiving Giveaway.

As of Monday, November 6, here’s a list of items we currently need:

  • Canned green beans
  • Canned black-eyed peas
  • Canned yams
  • Canned fried onions
  • Canned/boxed chicken broth
  • Boxes of mashed potatoes
  • Boxes of Stovetop stuffing mix
  • Corn muffin mix
  • Biscuit mix
  • Packets and jars of gravy
  • Cream of mushroom soup/cream of chicken soup
  • Fruit pies
  • Hot cocoa mix
  • Hot cider mix
  • Salt and pepper
  • Jars of dried poultry spices
  • Jars of bay leaves
  • Disposable roasting pans

Please drop off your Thanksgiving donations at 2823 Fairfax Street. We would love to have all of our food shopping done and Thanksgiving boxes filled by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15.  We can accept perishables until noon on Friday, November 17. THANK YOU!
