PJ Day Nets 700 Pounds of Goodies
Park Hill Elementary students wore pajamas to school, collected a whopping 700 pounds of canned goods and donated it all to the Greater Park Hill Community Food Pantry.
PJ Day, on Feb. 5, was in conjunction with the Denver’s Road Home’s annual fundraiser to help end homelessness.
“PJ Day serves as a visible reminder that everyone needs a place to sleep at night, and wearing our pajamas to work or school on February 5 is a memorable way for us to share this message with the Denver community,” school officials noted. “For most of us, putting on pajamas before heading to bed is just another part of our daily routine. But for the thousands of people who are homeless throughout Denver, getting comfortable before bedtime – let alone finding a warm place to sleep – is simply not an option.”
“At Park Hill Elementary we believe that teaching students to have empathy for every member of our community is an essential part of learning to be a good citizen.”
