Talking Turkey

Wild Turkeys were once hunted out of large parts of their range. But, as the Cornell Lab of Ornithology notes, they have been reintroduced and sightings are no longer as rare as they were just a few years ago. Wild Turkeys scuttle along the ground, using their strong feet to scratch away dead leaves looking for nuts, berries, insects and snails. At night they fly up into trees to roost.  This female Wild Turkey was photographed at Bluff Lake Nature Reserve, east of Park Hill, by Mark Silverstein.
