The East High girls’ lacrosse team started the season ranked No. 2 in Colorado, and cemented that ranking with two impressive early season wins. East’s Lady Angels took down Pine Creek on March 7, finishing with a score of 16-3. The team then knocked off No. 3-ranked Cherry Creek High 13-12 with a thrilling overtime win at All City Stadium on March 9. Against Cherry Creek, junior mid-fielder Ella Squibb led the Angels with five goals on five shots and two assists, while fellow middies and juniors Tess and Lucy McHugh contributed two goals apiece. Defending state champion Colorado Academy holds the No. 1 preseason state ranking. The Angels are scheduled for a home rendezvous with the C.A. Mustangs on Wednesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. on East’s turf field.
