Park Hill’s Joel Stangle Launches Acqua Fuori dal Ring at the Starz Denver Film Festival
By Christine Hager
International filmmaker Joel Stangle started his career on Dexter Street, before his work turned professional and took him to Europe and South America.
After his heartwarming Italian feature film Profumo di Lumia, seen at Starz two years ago, Stangle is back with his second made in Italy feature. The film, set in Catania, Sicily, in the harsh reality of the city’s mob-ridden projects, tells the story of two boxers, Toscano, a young Sicilian fighting against his past, and Barca, an African immigrant fighting for his future. When the tide changes, they find themselves fighting for the present. It is a gritty tale within the context of broken relationships, hardships and the cycles of Mediterranean history.
The movie had a successful premiere at the renowned International Film Festival in Rome. Don’t miss its US premiere at Starz Denver Film Festival from November 6th through 17th. And say Hi to Joel when you walk by the house, or catch him slurping his morning coffee at the Bakery on 23rd & Dexter.
