Eat Food, Have Fun, Make Art
Join 303 ArtWay to paint a community mural. The mural will be designed and painted over two days: Saturday, June 24 and Sunday June 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The mural will be at the Holly Market, at 5538 E. 33rd Ave., across the street from the Pauline Robinson Branch Library. Come eat some food, have some fun, make some art and meet your neighbors. Everyone is welcome at this free event. The 303 ArtWay is a proposed art-themed urban trail connecting paved walkways and bike paths
through the Park Hill neighborhood

Blessing Of The Wild Animals
The 3rd Annual Blessing of the Wild Animals is slated for Sunday, June 11 at the Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church Sanctuary. The special Sunday service is in partnership with the Denver Zoo and features a procession and blessing of wild animals from the zoo. Expect to see birds of prey, snakes and small mammals. All children are invited to bring their stuffed wild animals to the service and to stay for the procession of the animals after the sermon. The Denver Zoo has invited all who attend to visit the zoo for free following the service; use your church bulletin as a ticket. The Blessing of the Wild Animals is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 1980 Dahlia St.
Beer Garden and Fundraiser
The 5th Annual Lowry Foundation Fundraiser at Lowry Beer Garden is scheduled for Thursday, June 8, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at 7577 E. Academy Blvd. The family-friendly benefit is designed to support the Lowry Foundation’s community programs. There are no ticket sales or cover charges required. The Beer Garden will donate a portion of the evening’s proceeds to the Lowry Foundation. There will also be drawings for great prizes. Block Party On Fairfax
HM Capital Group, the developer of the planned commercial and residential project on Fairfax Street between 28th and 29th avenues, is hosting a neighborhood block party on Thursday, June 8 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The neighborhood party is designed to celebrate the kick-off of the construction project, called Park Hill Commons. It’s a free, family-friendly event with music by Thumpin’ (a six piece band) and food trucks (the food is not free). Celebrate African American Women
Author Stephana Colbert is holding a book signing and event on Thursday, June 15, at Blair Caldwell Library. Colbert’s book, Ordinary Extraordinary African American Women: The Elders, is a recently published project of Oklahoma-based Jewell Jordan Publishing. It’s an illuminating collection of true and candid narratives celebrating African American women who have lived their “ordinary” lives in extraordinary ways. The book signing is from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Blair-Caldwell Library, 2401 Welton St., in Five Points.
Imagine Funding Your Art
Denver Arts & Venues and the Denver Commission on Cultural Affairs are accepting proposals for the third year of the IMAGINE 2020 Fund.
Applications are due Friday, June 26 by 5 p.m., and award notification will be mid-July. The funding and implementation period is August 2017 through December 2018. Proposals indicating collaboration among multiple groups are strongly encouraged. Proposed programs should be inspired by one or more of the seven vision elements outlined in IMAGINE 2020 – Denver’s Cultural Plan: Integration, Amplification, Accessibility, Lifelong Learning, Local Talent, Economic Vitality and Collective Leadership. City agencies, cultural institutions, businesses, entrepreneurs, civic leaders, neighborhood and community-based organizations, and individuals located in the City and County of Denver are eligible to submit an application. The IMAGINE 2020 Fund provides up to $5,000 per program. Eligible applicants can apply for programs that are new or in development.
