Birdland: Tall, Delicate And Lanky
The Black-necked Stilt is found in the coastal areas of California and along the Gulf of Mexico as far east as Florida. These birds also live year-round in Central America and the Caribbean, in Brazil, Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands. During breeding season this tall, graceful bird is known to stop and linger in a few primo spots in Colorado. This Black-necked Stilt was spotted in nearby Westerly Creek by Park Hill photographer Mark Silverstein.
