All Art, Under the Sun
By Janis Carrasquel Hernández
The sweet and crisp sound of a couple of Spanish guitars, mixed with the noise of people talking while they walk among white tents. Beautiful bangles and earrings, nighttime photography landscapes, glass and iron sculptures, natural lavender beauty products and handmade gluten free pasta.
This was the scene at the annual Park Hill Art Festival on May 30 and 31 on the grounds of the Masonic Lodge at Montview Boulevard and Dahlia Street
The festival this year included more than 60 artists – from painters to photographers, craftspeople turning out ceramics, jewelry, carvings, sculpture, and mixed media in all price ranges.
Alexandra Shamaya, who makes jewelry with natural stones like turquoise and coral, called the festival one with “a really beautiful ambience.”
“It’s a nice community and the people are just lovely.”
