Weekend Food Program at Risk
Let Us Know If You Can Help
By Rebecca Born
Executive Director, GPHC, Inc.
As you may know, last year Greater Park Hill Community, Inc. launched a new program, something unlike anything we have ever done. We were attempting to fill the nutritional gap for the hungriest students in Park Hill by providing 300 children with two breakfasts, two lunches, and two snacks every weekend.
It was a very ambitious – and very costly – undertaking. Imagine how much you would spend on 45,000 meals and 22,000 snacks.
Unfortunately, a major funder recently let us know that their board has reallocated these funds. We need our community to step up if this program is going to continue. If you can make a donation, it would make a huge difference in a child’s life. $120 is the amount it takes to help keep a child fed over the weekend annually.
If you are led to donate, please send checks to GPHC, 2823 Fairfax St. Denver CO 80220. Please include “weekend food program” in the memo line.
