Imagine: you have been reading in a charming English garden haloed in dappled sunlight. As you leave the alluring scent of roses and lavender surrounding you to go inside to enjoy a spot of tea, you notice a respectable leather shoe protruding from the hydrangea bushes.
Congratulations! You’ve stumbled into a mystery! Check out these great international mystery TV shows from England, Australia and Canada!
Bletchley Circle – Set in 1952, a few talented and brave women help to solve a murder by breaking codes under the cover of a book club.
Endeavour – A prequel to the popular Inspector Morse Series, this misanthropic detective solves suspenseful and complicated murders in 1960s Oxford.
Inspector Lewis – Murders are no less complex and diabolical in contemporary Oxford, but Inspector Lewis and DS Hathaway are less morose than Morse.
Midsomer Murders – Enjoy all 25 series of Midsomer Murders where the beautiful rural community of Midsomer abounds with mystery and murder.
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries – Based on Kerry Greenwood’s novels set in 1920s Melbourne, Miss Fisher is hands down the jauntiest and most fashionable detective on this list.
Mr. and Mrs. Murder – Amateur sleuths and crime scene clean-up specialists Nicola and Charlie Buchanan solve both murder investigations and couples issues with humor and spunk.
Murdoch Mysteries – Set in Toronto in the late 1800s and early 1900s, Detective Murdoch uses revolutionary science, charm and his talented friends to solve crime with class and dignity.
Rosemary and Thyme – Two gardeners with the uncanny bad luck to continually stumble into murders keeps this show light, cozy and entertaining.
Scott and Bailey – Two tough and relatable police detectives in Manchester, England use their clever minds to catch the bad guys while each wrestle with their own virtues and vices.
Vera – Brenda Blethyn stars as detective Vera Stanhope who is haunted by her past.
