They’re Doing What at the Library?
by Tara Bannon Williamson
What do crafting, history, Hobbits, Kwanzaa, live music and football all have in common? They are all new programs to your local libraries!
Programming for families and adults is booming across the Denver Public Library system under the new title, Engage! There are almost 70 programs scheduled in January at 14 locations around Denver, including your beloved neighborhood branches. All for free! Brochures listing the exciting assortment are available each month. Be sure to pick one up next time you stop by.
While both locations have always offered a wide variety of programs, you have probably noticed a distinct upswing in both the frequency and the range advertised with an expanded offering for adults and teens. Fun and educational programming for kids and teens will also continue in 2015 at both locations. The range and depth of programming will keep your libraries vibrant and relevant, continue to delight current customers and continually attract new ones.
The Pauline Robinson branch is offering Crafts, Crafts, and More Crafts in January for crafters of all skill levels. The cooking program Healthy and Hearty Soups with the charming chef Monica Kadillak will be offered in February and is guaranteed to be delightfully delicious.
At the Park Hill branch, programs for adults in January include Basic Crochet with Share Denver, a Best of 2014 Book Discussion and a author discussion with Helen Thorpe, author of Soldier Girls and a recent guest on The Daily Show. In addition, bring the family for our Super Bowl Sundae program to enjoy ice cream and cheer on your favorite team. The weekly programs continue in February and March with a wide variety of live music performances, including local rock ‘n’ roll bands that will hopefully prompt customers to see the library in a whole new light.
