Strength In Numbers
Become A Member Of Greater Park Hill Community
Do you know what exactly Greater Park Hill Community, Inc. does? Well, you are reading this publication, so you are probably at least aware that we publish an award-winning, free monthly newspaper. But there is so much more that our organization – active since 1956 – does in the community.
One of things we are best known for are our food programs. Our Emergency Food Pantry serves anyone with a Park Hill address; no other criteria is needed. The pantry is open on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at GPHC headquarters, 2823 Fairfax St. In addition, our Weekend Food Program aims to fill the nutritional gap experienced by some Park Hill students over the weekend. Our Thanksgiving Giveaway ensures that Park Hill families are able to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. And our seasonal Free Farm Stand provides fresh produce to neighbors. In total, we provided around 20,000 meals to Park Hill families in 2019.
You may also be aware of the annual Park Hill Home Tour & Street Fair, Park Hill Garden Walk, Park Hill 4th of July Parade, Park Hill Community Yard Sale, and the Garden In A Box Giveaway. We are behind all of these wonderful neighborhood events and traditions.
One of our newer areas of service is in sustainability. In 2017 we applied to have Greater Park Hill enrolled in the Sustainable Neighborhood Network with the City of Denver. Since then we have continued to promote and create programs that educate and encourage living in a way that is conscious of the impacts to our environment.
Last but certainly not least is our role as your Registered Neighborhood Organization. We review zoning amendments, landmark designation applications, planning board and board of adjustment hearings, liquor and cabaret licenses and regularly weigh in on other activities happening in or near the neighborhood such as development projects, city plans, and transit plans.
It all sounds amazing, right? You may be asking, “how can I support all of this?” or, “how can I share my voice?” One of the most impactful things you can do is become a member of GPHC. A larger membership base gives us a louder voice, more resources, and allows us to be representative of more points of view. GPHC is your neighborhood organization. We want to hear from you!
Memberships for households are just $35 for the year. It’s quick and easy to register online at greaterparkhill.org/join-us/become-a-member. You can also complete the membership form on the next page and mail it or drop it off to 2823 Farifax St., Denver, CO 80207. (Be sure to include “membership” in the memo line and send us your name, address, email and phone number.)
