The 2018 Park Hill Garden Walk promises to be a day full of surprises, creativity, inspiration and pure enjoyment.
For the past 18 years, the Park Hill community has opened their hearts and their gardens for all to enjoy.
As we spoke with the featured gardeners for the 2018 Park Hill Garden Walk, a theme began to develop. Neighborliness! This theme is clearly evident. For example, neighbors have gardens that blend from yard to yard. They not only share in the landscaping efforts, but also in the duties associated with maintaining the gardens. Edible gardens are also shared with neighbors as well as the community.
Our gardeners have worked for years to create gardens that truly reflect their interests, talents and personality. We don’t want to give away too much, but here’s a tiny snapshot of what you will experience as you explore these 10 unique gardens.
The gardeners are very creative in their ability to repurpose materials such as broken chairs, old pieces of ironwork, reclaimed wood and stained glass, to name just a few. You will be surprised and amazed at the various ways our gardeners have taken these and other materials to create spaces that tell a story about themselves.
The featured gardeners for 2018 have literally extended their living spaces into their yards. They have been designed to provide creative spaces for children to play, adult entertaining and areas for quiet reflection. The energy as well as the tranquility found in these spaces is magical.
The use of color is everywhere. Whether it is painted objects, the plants themselves or in art features, the use of color is just delightful. It pulls you in and makes each space inviting in its own way. You may find yourself just wanting to sit down and take it all in as best you can.
Raised garden beds are another feature in several of the gardens. They come in all shapes and sizes and are made of a multitude of materials. If you are thinking about creating a raised garden in your yard, you’ll definitely want to visit these gardens to get ideas that work for you.
There is much more to experience in this year’s Park Hill Garden Walk.
