‘One Can Never Have Enough Socks’
Match The Christmas Quotes To The Classics
By Becky Corning
Librarian, Pauline Robinson Branch
Think you know your Tiny Tim from your Cindy Lou Who? Try to name which books contain the following Christmas quotations. (Answers are at the end of the events listings.)
1. “One can never have enough socks. Another Christmas has come and gone and I didn’t get a single pair. People will insist on giving me books.”
2. “Always winter but never Christmas.”
3. “God bless us, everyone.”
4. “But instead I am applying for a job as an elf. Even worse than applying is the very real possibility that I will not be hired, that I couldn’t even find work as an elf. That’s when you know you’re a failure.”
5. “What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas … perhaps … means a little bit more!”
6. “Dear Aunt Loretta,
Thank you so much for the awesome pants!
How did you know I wanted that for Christmas?
I love the way the pants look on my legs!
All my friends will be so jealous that I have my very own pants.
Thank you for making this the best Christmas ever!
Sincerely, Greg”
