Drop Off The Dead Weight

Once again an electronics recycling drive is scheduled in conjunction with the Park Hill Home Tour on Sunday Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your electronics to the GPHC office at 2823 Fairfax St.  Check out parkhillhometour.org for details on what they’ll accept for free and for a small fee.

If you miss this convenient opportunity here are other options for recycling old electronics:

1. Go to Denvergov.org to obtain an E-cycle coupon for deep discounts on recycling many electronics. You must bring them to BlueStar Recyclers at 953 Decatur St.

2. Office Depot, Best Buy, Staples and Target have electronics recycling programs. They’re managed in various ways, so check out their websites to see which works best for you.

3. Denver will take large appliances for free with help from their partner EcoProjex. Go to denvergov.org to sign up.

4. Alkaline batteries can be dropped off at Battery Giant, at 251 East 6th Ave. for 65 cents/pound.

5. The Denver Household Hazardous Waste program accepts fluorescent light bulbs, one TV, a complete computer system, car batteries and alkaline batteries.

6. Home Depot and Lowes collect fluorescent bulbs and rechargeable batteries used for power tools.
