East High School senior wing Adam Merenstein (#2) shoots past GW Patriot junior defender Jose Avalos (#4) during the Oct. 9 Denver Public Schools rivalry clash between East and George Washington high schools. East won the match 4-0, with two goals on either side of halftime. 

East finished the regular season with a 10-3-2 record, ranked 11th going into the state playoffs. GW finished the season with a 6-9 record and ended with a 7-3 victory over Kennedy.
