December Garden Tips: Gardens And Verses

Here are some seasonal tips for you and your garden for December:

• Use burlap to protect fragile plants during the winter months, and wrap the trunks of young trees.
• Check soil moisture levels and water your trees, shrubs and gardens as needed when temperatures stay above 45 degrees for several hours during the day.
• Remove accumulated snow from plants and tree branches to prevent damage.
• Clean bird baths and feeders every 1-2 weeks with a solution of 50/50 vinegar and water.
• Sharpen and oil pruning tools, clean spray equipment and store in a dry place until spring.
• Decorate for the holidays with garland, wreaths, and evergreens.
