Community Matters
We All Stand Virtually Shoulder-To-Shoulder In Solidarity
One of the many things we’ve learned in the past several weeks is that community matters.
It matters more in times of uncertainty and struggle. It matters even when you can’t physically stand shoulder to shoulder with one another. Community provides hope, comfort, and often a safety net.
Greater Park Hill Community, Inc. is honored to serve as one thread of that safety net in ensuring members of our community have enough to eat. Of course, we don’t do this alone.
Coretta Scott King is credited with saying, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” And it has become truly apparent in these times that, by that measure, our community is indeed great. Your overwhelming support has ensured that we can meet the nutritional needs of the community for the foreseeable future.
Yes, the food pantry is in great shape thanks to all of you. There are, however, many other ways that we serve the community and, in turn, a few ways you can help us continue our mission as a Registered Neighborhood Organization:
• Become a member of GPHC, Inc. (greaterparkhill.org/join-us/become-a-member/)
• Advertise in, and support our newspaper, the Greater Park Hill News (greaterparkhill.org/newspaper/advertise/)
• Participate in upcoming fundraising events and fundraising campaigns (greaterparkhill.org/events/upcoming-events/)
This additional support will help us maintain our facility, keep our staff employed, publish our newspaper, and continue our tradition of advocacy for the neighborhood.
GPHC is a volunteer and donor-based organization. A big thank you to our donors and volunteers this past month. It’s worth noting that many more of you brought us food during the first days of the stay-at-home order than are listed here. We were really scrambling to implement new systems and serve more clients, and we surely missed a lot of your names during that time period. If you have donated but don’t see your name below, please know we are grateful for you!
