Check Out The Chromebooks
Make Music, Make Pictures, Make Anything
By Becky Corning, Librarian, Pauline Robinson Branch
We now have Chromebooks available for checkout inside the library!
You can check out a Chromebook at Pauline Robinson branch, Park Hill branch, or any of the other 24 locations of Denver Public Library.
Here at Pauline Robinson, we have noticed some people are using the Chromebooks when all the desktop computers are taken, and when people want to use a laptop in the study rooms.
Here’s how to check out a Chromebook:
Chromebooks check out for four hours maximum. They are always due 15 minutes before closing time and must be used in the library.
A full privilege library card in good standing is required to checkout a Chromebook.
Printing is available. Ask a staff member to release your print. Black and white costs 10 cents per page, and color 50 cents per page.
Our Chromebooks come with a few preloaded Apps:
• DocHub – edit and sign PDF Documents
• Lucidpress – create visual content for print, mobile or web. Make brochures, newsletters, magazines, reports, and more.
• Beautiful – inbrowser, multi-track audio editor
• Super Mario – Super Mario online game
• Dropbox – upload your photos, docs, and videos and share them easily
• Camera – access webcam and take pictures
• Pixlr – browser photo editor for all your editing needs
• Sumopaint – full featured painting and image editing application
• Microsoft Office online
• Beatlab – a step sequencer to make music
Come in and check out a Chromebook today. And while you are at the library, don’t forget to sign up for Winter of Reading – an adult reading program that continues throughout the month of March.
