Bugland: Just Chillin’
The Striped Meadowhawk is a species of skimmer in the dragonfly family Libellulidae. These dragonflies are common in North America, and like habitats that include shallow, temporarily flooded marshes, ponds, and lakes. The females and immature males are greenish yellow to olive green, and mature males are mostly red. All are marked on each side of the thorax with a pair of diagonal yellowish stripes. This female Striped Meadowhawk was photographed in Park Hill last summer by Mark Silverstein.
