Birdland: Tiny Flier
Hummingbird season is always a thrill in Park Hill. This Broad-tailed Hummingbird is taking a rest, but when he’s in flight his wings beat up to 70 times per second. Many neighborhood bird lovers hang their sweet-water feeders out from mid-April through October, hoping to attract these showstoppers. A couple tips: make sure to refresh the nectar regularly, and be patient. Sooner or later the hummingbirds will discover you, and, if you’re lucky, they will make your house a regular stop. This Broad-tailed hummer was photographed in Park Hill by Mark Silverstein.
