Birdland: Song Of The Flute

Hard to imagine, but it’s only a few more months until spring, when the Swainson’s Thrush returns from its winter migration and we’ll be able to listen for its lovely, distinctive, flute-like melody. Once you’ve heard the whistling, upward spiraling song of the thrush, you will always recognize it. If that weren’t enough, these thrushes also make a call that sounds just like water dripping. This Swainson’s Thrush was photographed in Ecuador by Park Hill resident Mark Silverstein.
