Birdland: Lucky Toucan
Fiery Billed Aracaris breed only in Costa Rica and western Panama. Like other toucans, aracaris are brightly marked and have large bills, which they use to grab insects in flight and sip water from leaves during rainstorms. Fiery Billed Aracaris cannot live in areas that are heavily deforested, so it’s a good thing that Costa Rica, where this bird was photographed, has taken drastic steps to reverse past destruction.
