BIRDLAND: Great White Ibis
Spotting a White Ibis during the summer months in Colorado is a real treat. The males are over two feet long with 28-inch wingspans, and weigh just two pounds. With their long red legs and long red bills, these wading birds winter in the shallow wetlands and swamps and estuaries in Florida and the Gulf Coast. In summer months they often wander through the west. This White Ibis was photographed by Park Hill resident Mark Silverstein.
