Birdland: Flash of Color
The Inca Jay has an extensive song repertoire, including a distinctive call that sounds like an alarm bell. This colorful bird stands a foot tall and has a striking blue crest and black bib with a white crown, bright yellow breast and rich green back feathers. You will not likely catch the flash of an Inca Jay flying past your window in Park Hill, as these birds are endemic to the Andes of South America. This Inca Jay was photographed in Ecuador by Park Hill resident Mark Silverstein.
