Birdland: Flash Of Blue

Woodhouse’s Scrub Jays are large and lanky, with long tails and stout bills. The adults are light blue, with whitish throats and grayish bellies, and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology describes them as assertive, vocal and inquisitive. You can find these jays silhouetted high in trees, on wires, or on posts, where they act as lookouts. They prefer open habitats and pinyon-juniper woodlands.
