Peace On Earth

The dove represents peace of the deepest kind. Doves are gentle birds that mate for life and nurture their young. They have been used as a peace symbol almost universally from the beginning of recorded history. The Eurasian Collared-Dove, pictured here, gets its name from the black half-collar at the nape of the neck. The doves can often be spotted in pairs, cooing from phone wires and fence posts throughout the neighborhood.  Photo by Park Hill resident Mark Silverstein
