Beautiful Homes and a Bustling Forest Parkway

The 2013 Home Tour & Street Fair is September 22
By Roberta Locke and Kate Sultan
The 35th Annual Park Hill Home Tour and Street Fair is just around the corner on Sunday, September 22. What better way to spend a lovely early autumn afternoon than strolling or biking through Park Hill to visit an interesting sampling of the wonderful homes that define us as one of the most architecturally diverse and beautiful neighborhoods in the city.
Our homes this year include: historic homes designed by architectural geniuses, a turn of the (last) century Denver Square restored to pristine elegance, a pop-top so seamless it defies the term, a large Tudor that has embraced its kitchen and family room addition so completely you’d think it’s original, and a modest Tudor with such a phenomenal floor plan and kitchen renovation you’ll go home and begin knocking down walls!
Or, you could stop at the Street Fair on Forest Parkway and find a contractor to help you do that.
The Street Fair is bigger and better than ever. We have artists and authors, bakers and builders, counselors and colorists, dancers and dentists, fairies (gardens, that is) and flooring, hardware and herbals (oils, that is), illustrators and jewelers and knitters and LUNCH and masons and nurses and orthodontists and painters and plasterers and raptors and schools and t-shirts and vets and windows and more…
This year we have the following new and returning vendors signed up for this year’s Street Fair. Please come out and support these folks who help keep our community strong and vibrant.

Get involved
Please contact Kate Sultan at krsultan@comcast.net for more information on how to secure a booth space at the Street Fair – we have expanded our geography and may have some space available.
There is still a short window of opportunity to advertise in our Home Tour brochure, which will reach some 1,500 people, at a very reasonable price. For information, please contact Jack Farrar at denverfarrar@comcast.net.
Our Silent Auction Acquisition Team is busily searching for and accepting items for the Silent Auction. Please contact Susan Barden at macdougaldog@msn.com, Paula Wales at pkwales@gmail.com or Lynn Maedel at lynnmaedel@cacmie.org.
Nina Kuhl is coordinating the Kids Activities and can use help. You can reach Nina at kuhlnina@yahoo.com.
Larry Sondergeroth is recruiting volunteers to staff the homes, help with set up and clean up and to sell tickets. He has sent out a Save the Date email but if you didn’t receive the email, please get in touch with Larry at larrysoldmyhome@aol.com, Kim Tighe at kimberlytighe@msn.com or Tannan Morris at tannandenver@aol.com. Kim and Tannan are out in the community doing outreach to help find the 100 or so volunteers that we need the day of the Home Tour and Street Fair. Volunteers receive a free ticket to the event and an invititation to the after party which is always a fabulous celebration.
Tickets
Tickets will go on sale September 1st and will be available at the Park Hill Library, the Park Hill Bookstore, the GPHC office, King Soopers and greaterparkhill.org. Pre-event tickets are $15 for adults, $10 seniors (65+) and $5 children. Day-of tickets will be sold at either side of the Street Fair on Forest Parkway (Forest/Montview and Forest/19th Avenue). Day-of adult tickets will be $20; senior and children ticket prices will not change.
An important note on tickets: Tickets will not be sold at any of the homes. Tickets purchased prior to the event must be presented at one of the Forest Parkway locations in exchange for an event bag, sponsored by Modern Bungalow, with booties, a brochure and other goodies. We’re excited to have Home Tour/Street Fair bags and want to thank Kate and Ed Sultan for their sponsorship.
