In The Mood For Nectar
Rufous-tailed Hummingbirds zip up to Colorado from Mexico and Central America in May for the summer, and head back south in September. On their way out, they feed on the nectar of flowers (they love red blossoms with tubular shapes). Now is the time to make sure your garden hummingbird feeders are well stocked, to make sure the tiny birds get enough fuel to make it safely to their winter homes. This Rufous-tailed hummingbird was photographed by Park Hill resident Mark Silverstein.
