About a year ago, the always-engaging online news site Denverite responded to a reader’s question that went along the lines of, what in the heck is the deal with seagulls in land-locked Colorado? Shouldn’t these surfs-up bro’ birds be doing vibe at a coastal beach somewhere? Yes, gulls love the ocean. But they also love cruising around the lakes and reservoirs of Colorado, where they find plenty of food and have adapted to living year-round. This Ring-Billed Gull was photographed in City Park by Mark Silverstein.
