Birdland: Baby Honker
Goslings, which are baby geese, take about a month to hatch. and emerge covered in soft downy feathers. As described by National
Geographic, goslings hatch with their eyes open and will leave the nest within 24 hours, dutifully following behind their parents. Goslings can walk, swim, feed and even dive right away. In less than two months, they grow adult feathers and learn to fly. Park Hill photographer Mark Silverstein photographed this gosling at Belmar Park in Lakewood.
