Welcome To The Art Garage Tour de Park Hill
Local Artists To Exhibit in 13 Locations Oct. 16-18

The Art Garage, a Denver nonprofit that promotes the creative work of local artists living in the Greater Park Hill Neighborhood, is holding its third annual Park Hill Artist Studio Tour the weekend of October 16, 17 and 18. More than 15 acclaimed artists will welcome the public by opening up their studios and exhibiting their artwork. Refreshments will be served at each location.
Location One: The Art Garage — 6100 East 23rd Ave. The Art Garage is on the southeast corner of Kearney St. and 23rd Ave. The Studio Tour will take place Friday, Oct. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pick up a map, enjoy some refreshments and visit artists in their studios to see both finished artwork and work in progress. During this time, you can also pick up a 2015-2016 schedule and learn about other classes, events and community outreach programs.
Location Two: Cake Crumbs — 2216 Kearney St. This local neighborhood bakery is a great place to relax while enjoying local art. Cake Crumbs will be exhibiting the work of local artist Jared Berger. His work will be on display for the full month of October.
Location Three: Frances Mackey Studio — 1430 Birch St. Francis Mackey graduated from The Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore Maryland and was a ceramics instructor at Rutgers Preparatory School in New Jersey. In Denver since 1970, she concentrates on making functional porcelain objects and stoneware houses as memory boxes or to stand alone in a garden.
Location Four: The Art Gym — 1460 Leyden St. The Art Gym is a membership-based communal art space that provides common-use areas separated by disciplines: culinary, digital, drawing, metalsmithing, painting, performance, printmaking, sculpture and writing. Multiple artists will be showing at this location.
Location Five: Karrie McBryde Studio — 2044 Elm St. Karrie McBryde grew up in Park Hill and studied at the Corning Museum of Glass in upstate New York. Karrie creates beautiful, practical and affordable glass objects. The glass is taken from the 2100-degree furnace in her studio in a very fluid state. After working it, it becomes malleable and she coaxes the glass into what her head and heart envisions.
Location Six: Barbara Hoffman Studio — 4933 East 22nd Ave. Barbara Hoffman (pictured at right) received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon and has worked professionally for 36 years. She has won many awards and her work is in the collection of Yixing Ceramic Museum in China. Also exhibiting here are Esther Rumaner, Katie Archambault and Peg Malloy. Esther Rumaner creates incredibly detailed line drawings in pen and ink. Archambault is an illustrator expressing her work primarily through the digital medium. Malloy makes honest, simple and functional pots.
Location Seven: Michele McManus — 2363 Ivy St. Michele McManus combines dichroic, iridescent and hand rolled art glass to create one of kind art glass jewelry and what she calls jewelry for your home. The glass is fused in a kiln with temperatures up to 1700 degrees. Most pieces are fused between 2-5 times and then cut and polished the same way gemstones are finished with diamond-encrusted tools.
Location Eight: Dan Ginsberg — 2616 Fairfax St. For Dan Ginsberg, creativity is a state of mind to be nurtured and explored. As a multi-medium artist and writer, he is constantly exploring new and interesting ways to express his ideas visually, graphically or in a written format.
Location Nine: Eis Gelato — 2895 Fairfax St. Eis Gelato and Cafe offers fresh, artisanal gelato and delicious, locally roasted Novo Coffee. Stop by to try their seasonal flavors, while enjoying the local artists showing in their café.
Location Ten: Meridythe Emmanuel of Park Hill Designs — 2601 Monaco Parkway Meridythe Emmanuel crafts natural children’s clothing and accessories, home goods and unique adult clothing. Walking into her beautiful basement studio you will be inspired by all the patterns, colors and designs.
Location Eleven: Castle Clay Artists Inc. — 5333 East 38th Ave. Castle Clay is one of Denver’s most vibrant co-ops, providing a working environment for members with separate studio spaces, areas for bisque firing, glazing and a kiln yard. Multiple artists will be showing at this location.
Location Twelve: Benjamin Clarke Studio — 3384 Jasmine St. Benjamin Clarke studied painting at the University of Kansas and graduated from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. He illustrates articles, books, and movie and television projects. He paints from life and his imagination using pastel, oil and watercolor. Also exhibiting at this studio is Patricia Barr Clarke, who studied painting at The University of Kansas and the University of Michigan. She teaches art classes at The Art Garage, workshops in Colorado and New Mexico and Curacao and is a member of the Colorado Watercolor Society and Plein Air Artists of Colorado.
Location Thirteen: Share Denver — 2829 Fairfax St. Join Share Denver and its great community of artisans, makers, and crafters for their Halloween Pop Up! A diverse variety of curated vendors will share their wares, joined by a tarot reader and face painter. This location will be participating on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. only.
