TAX HELP FOR NE DENVER FAMILIES
Families making less than $50,000 a year could be eligible for up to $5,000 in tax refunds. Tax Help Colorado, a program of the Piton Foundation, provides free tax preparation to ensure families receive the credits they deserve. The program uses colleges – primarily community colleges – to provide free income-tax preparation to lower- and moderate-income working families in Colorado through the Earned Income Tax Credit. Last tax season, 320,000 families in Colorado received $659 million in tax refunds from the Earned Income Tax Credit, and Tax Help Colorado helped file tax returns for thousands of these families. This year Tax Help Colorado will operate 26 sites across the state of Colorado during the 2013 tax season. Most sites open on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Sites are first-come, first-serve, and days and hours of operation vary at each location. For Northeast Denver, the tax site is Manual High School, 1700 E. 28th Avenue, 2nd Floor Library, Saturdays 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursdays 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. through March 9.
