TALK OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD: The Living Is Easy
Summer In Park Hill, Center Of The Universe
By Colette Carey | Executive Director, GPHC, Inc.
Summer is fully underway, and there is no better place to be than Park Hill.
It’s not just the events that are heating up. Our last few monthly community meetings have featured important presentations on the proposed Xcel franchise agreement, a visit from Grayson Moore from Congresswoman Diana DeGette’s office, and a lively discussion on the proposed Registered Neighborhood Organization (RNO) ordinance with the city’s director of community involvement, Stephanie Laing. We also received important community updates from Councilman Darrell Watson and Councilwoman Shontel Lewis.
There is a lot going on in our neighborhood.
It’s not just the civic involvement that’s top of mind. At the time of this writing, we can celebrate an amazingly successful Garden Walk. On June 7, approximately 1,000 people enjoyed the splendor of eight gardens filled with beauty, color, and inspiration. The artwork displayed at each home was so unique and beautiful that it left my pocket a little lighter … and my home a bit brighter!
And just at this issue appears on your doorstep, we’re gearing up for the annual Fourth of July parade – thanks to founder and organizer Justin Bresler and his hard-working team. This year is a special one: America turns 250 and Colorado celebrates its 150th birthday. As of now, Turtle Park at 23rd and Dexter is still closed for renovations, so make sure to plan accordingly when looking for a place to sit and enjoy the festivities along the 23rd Avenue parade route.
We are also underway with planning and organizing this fall’s 2026 Home Tour and Street Fair, on Sunday, Sept. 27. We have an exciting lineup of homes ready to show off (check back for more on that next month). Booth spaces are available, as are sponsorships. We’ll also definitely need volunteers, and it’s never too early to sign up. Check out the myriad opportunities at parkhillhometour.org.
To all of you who volunteer your time and your efforts, I send my heartfelt thanks. You help keep us moving forward as a vital force in serving the Park Hill community.
Have a safe and wonderful summer.
