SMILEY MIDDLE SCHOOL’S AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM NEEDS MOTIVATED & CREATIVE VOLUNTEERS

Every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., a group of 15-20 sixth, seventh and eighth graders participate in an afterschool program at Hiawatha Davis Rec Center at 3334 Holly St. Because of budget cuts and staff reductions, afterschool programing for students is limited. We are looking for volunteers to lead and/or help out with activities ranging from art, dance, sports, cooking and anything else they can dream up! Our current schedule includes tutoring, hip-hop dance lessons and painting. If you have a passion and would like to get more experience teaching or coaching, then please email Jessica Beegle at jessica_beegle@dpsk12.org. You will be asked how often you would like volunteer (minimum one Wednesday from 2:00-4:30), given a background check application and welcomed to our team!
