Rock The Caucus On March 3
The Midterms Are Coming. It’s Time To Get To Work
By Sharon Kermiet | House District 8 Volunteer Coordinator

The President of the U.S. has expressed interest in “cancelling” the 2026 midterms. His deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, has called the Democratic Party a “domestic extremist organization.” This is dangerous rhetoric and threatens our democracy.
Voters can combat this threat by showing up at every point in the electoral process. The first step in 2026 is your precinct’s caucus.
Colorado counties will hold their Democratic Party caucuses in early March. Denver precinct caucuses are Tuesday, March 3, beginning at 6:30 p.m. We encourage you to attend your caucus this year, even if you’ve rarely — or never — attended in the past. To participate, you must be a resident of your Denver precinct, and registered to vote, for at least 22 days (Feb. 9) before the caucus.
Get more information about the 2026 process at this website: denverdemocrats.org/caucus. The site helps you identify your precinct, gives the location of your precinct’s caucus and provides more details. You can register for caucus online, although you can also just show up on March 3 to meet your Democratic Party neighbors and learn about the next steps in the 2026 midterm elections.
What we do at caucus:
• Elect delegates to the Denver County Democratic Assembly — which is the next meeting in the electoral process. Some candidates — including Phil Weiser and Michael Bennet (who are both running for governor) — will use the caucus process to get on the 2026 ballot. Caucus attendees will vote on which of the candidates’ delegates will go to the Denver County Assembly, which is March 14.
• Learn how to make suggestions to the Democratic Party of Denver’s platform committee on top issues like income inequality, climate change, protecting our democracy, gun violence, or the cost of health care.
• Elect Democratic Party precinct organizers. Many precincts in Denver need precinct organizers. A precinct organizer recruits volunteers and coaches them to get out the vote.
• Recruit block captains, building captains, and other volunteers to help get out the 2026 vote.
• Recruit election judges.
Please attend and let your voice be heard!
Editor’s note: The Denver County Republicans also hold their caucus on March 3. The website with information on the GOP’s process is at denvergop.org.
