Pumpkin Patch Opens at Park Hill United Methodist Church

The pumpkins have arrived to the Park Hill United Methodist Church at the corner of Montview and Forest and will be on sale through October 31.
According to Judy Orecchio, PHUMC Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries, the pumpkin patch — which has been a tradition since 1999 — is appreciated by more than just church members.
“It’s become a community thing,” she said. Park Hill neighbors enjoy the patch and local preschools participate in a harvest-themed story time event at the patch.
It took over 40 youth group and church members several hours to unload the truck, which rolled in from outside Farmington, New Mexico, where the pumpkins were grown on a Navajo reservation for an organization called Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers.
The pumpkin sales benefit the church’s Youth Mission Trips to places like Texas to work with children in need and teach vacation bible school, and as far afield as Louisiana to provide disaster relief.
