Professional Women with a Passion for Dance
An instructor at the University of Colorado, Boulder, had an epiphany one day that – after 18 years of teaching Chemistry on the campus – she would rather be dancing. Once a teacher, always a teacher, Margie Krest opened Dancing the Soul, a studio in Mayfair that brings together a creative and talented group of instructors whose professional lives add to richness of their classes.
Margie is the owner of the studio and a yoga teacher. She studied at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, and was inspired there to create Dancing the Soul, a place where others would have the opportunity to listen to their inner rhythms and connect to their bodies and spirits.
Dana Hood is a Black Belt Nia instructor. After one class of Nia, she decided to become a certified teacher of the dance. Dana’s love of Nia is rivaled only by her love for dogs – she owns a Glendale doggie daycare, For The Love of Dog, and a doggie boutique on Larimer Square, Dog Savvy.
Linda Sue Shirkey teaches both yoga and pilates. She has been working in various creative fields all her life, from coaching ice skating to building her own interior design company, Production & Design.
Cathy Phelps is a certified Zumba instructor who has been dancing for 15 years. Cathy is the executive director of the The Denver Center for Crime Victims, an agency that serves as a safety net and provides supports for crime victims, their families and their friends.
Della Hoffman is a Zumba instructor. A native of Park Hill and now a teacher at Place Bridge Academy in Denver, where she teaches a designated “newcomer” class of 6th graders that hail from 6 countries and speak 8 different languages.
