Park Hill Street Fair: Family Fun at the Home Tour
By Kate Sultan / Street Fair Coordinator
Come one, come all to the Park Hill Home Tour & Street Fair on Sunday September 23rd. Gather the neighbors, friends, kids and grandkids and come on down to Forest Parkway between 19th & Montview for great food, local handicrafts, live music and big fun for the little ones.
In between the homes on the Home Tour, there will be lots to entertain you at the Street Fair. Of course, we will have the Wine & Beer garden with premier hostess Stacy McDonald, and you will be serenaded by returning musicians, the Batts. The Bike Depot will have bikes to loan for the day and the kiddies will have an activities area just for them.
Not to worry that the Wine & Beer garden will be the only fixin’s. Park Hill’s own Oblio’s Pizzeria will be on hand with Tommy Gilhooly at the helm. For those of you who had a taste of the Route 40 Argentenian Grill last year, you will be happy to hear they are coming back again this year with lots and lots of empanadas and have no plans to run out of their great fare. Maui/Wowi will be with us again for those of us in need of a little caffeine or a great smoothie for a Sunday stroll. And Fly Rice will be with us again for some great Thai food. Joining us this year are three new tastes in the ‘hood: GB Fish & Chips, Rocky Mt. Chili Bowl and Capt’n Crabby Food Truck. Cake Crumbs and Eis Gelato will bring us the sugar rush we will all need after hours of strolling the houses, viewing the Street Fair vendors, tasting the delicious eats and toasting our great neighborhood. Royal Crest Dairy is joining us, too, as is Styria Bakery.
We have many returning vendors this year and we are so pleased for their support! You won’t want to miss any of these great artist and craftsmen and local businesses. Oozing with talent, we are so fortunate to have PS Designs jewelry and sewn items; woodworker Matt Tills; and The Bungalow Craft’s artists Bob Ragland, Anne Sunderwirth, Michael Stipek and Julie Leidel. We have clothing, personal care and accessories: Dizzie Izzie, Green Up, Blue Dye Designs, Simply Divine, Red Wagon Market, Karen von Phul and pillows by una bella storia. We have potters Frances Mackey and Kathy Foyle of K&F Pottery. We have jewelers Marilyn Vrooman, Pet Care by Park Hill Veterinary, Pet Treats from Barkley Pups Pet Treats, home goods from Modern Bungalow and wildlife information from Nature’s Educators Raptor Program.
We have Home Improvement vendors this year: Wall Rebuilder, Chimney Jack, GB3, Renewal by Anderson, Superior Home Improvement and Ace on the Fax. Come register to vote, make your house energy efficient, learn about gardening and composting, find the neighborhood books by Historic Denver, meet some of our nonprofit neighbors like Park Hill Assisted Living and Arising Hope or just plain show your support for our nonprofit booths. These and other vendors are updated frequently on our Street Fair website and and the surge for booth reservations comes at this time of the year.
Interested in vending? Time is of the essence and space is limited. Contact Kate Sultan at krsultan@comcast.net. 10’ x 10’ booth space is $125.
Want to really join the fun for the day? Get behind the scenes as a volunteer. We have lots of opportunities for volunteers: in the homes, at the Street Fair, at the Wine & Beer Garden or with the kids’ activities. You don’t have to volunteer for the whole day; just do a few hours of volunteering, meet some other great Park Hill neighbors, and then enjoy the Home Tour & Street Fair for the rest of the day. Contact Larry at larrysoldmyhome@aol.com.
Does your business do business with Park Hill residents? Might you want to be “seen” by some 2,000 people on this great neighborhood day? One of the most trafficked booths at the Street Fair is the Greater Park Hill Silent Auction booth. Donate an item that represents you and your business and let Park Hill get to know you. Donation inquiries should be sent to Susan at macdougaldog@msn.com.
We hope to see and meet you at the Street Fair. Please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. If you like what you see, we hope you will consider working with us on this and the many other great activities in Park Hill during the upcoming year. Your help with and donations to the Greater Park Hill Community, Inc., help us to continue our work in the community throughout the year.
