TRIBUTE: Mikey Adair
Kind, Hardworking, Friend To All
By Ruth Baker
For the GPHN
Michael (Mikey as he liked to be called) Adair was born at Denver General. He lived his entire life in Park Hill. He was a very good, kind, honorable, sociable, hardworking man.
He always made conversation with people, and mostly made them laugh. He was very proud of his landscaping business, and pushed his lawn mower throughout Park Hill. He kept everyone’s yard immaculate. He would mow lawns, trim bushes, plant flowers, whatever was needed.
In later years, when he no longer could push his lawnmower, he would sit on the sidewalk outside of the Greater Park Hill Community office at 28th and Fairfax. He would greet people as they came in for food pantry supplies. and would say “bye” when they left. More often than not he’d have something to say to make them laugh.
He had more issues than many people but he enjoyed life and was always optimistic.
He loved life and enjoyed it to the max. One thing he really disliked was getting his hair cut. He would put that off as long as possible. He just hated it.
When he was in his power chair he called it his Cadillac. It would take him everywhere, all around town. from Park Hill to Green Valley to Aurora to Downtown Denver and farther west.
Mikey was a good man. He was loved by many. He will be missed by all.
Ruth Baker was Mikey’s sweetheart.
