Back to School, Back to You
Like it or not, Fall is here! Shorter days. Cooler nights. Football. Back to school. Lots of excitement and change. Though I’m always sad to see summer end, I also appreciate the opportunity for transition that seems to come hand-in-hand with that sudden crispness in the air. Without the distractions of vacations, barbecues and yard work, you can ready yourself for a new season and a new you.
You may not be going back to school, but what do you need to get back to? What is calling you to take care of yourself in a deeper, richer, and more meaningful way? This calling could be in a number of areas in your life from your health or relationships to your finances or spirituality. Take a moment right now to consider one thing you need to get back to in order to get back to yourself.
• Recommit to your workouts
• Make a doctor or dentist appointment
• Meet your new neighbors
• Schedule a date with your spouse or partner
• Volunteer at the Food Bank, Bike Depot, or Home Tour
• Meet with a financial planner
• Start a book club
• Attend a new place of worship
• Start or finish an indoor project
• Try a yoga class
To the last point, we have so many resources right here in the neighborhood, including Park Hill’s Sacred I at 2212 Kearney which offers workshops for all levels and ages including Beginners, Kid’s Yoga, Wisdom Warriors, Flow and Alignment classes. Yoga is a great opportunity to not only practice the physical poses that give you strength and flexibility but also to take time to pause, take a deep breath and focus on what is most important.
Diane Sieg lives in Park Hill and has taught at Sacred I since it opened 5 years ago.
