30,000 Of The World’s Best Films Now At Your Fingertips

Whether you are new to streaming movies or already have Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video and Acorn TV, you’ll love our new on-demand Kanopy film streaming service, which is now available for free from the Denver Public Library.
Cardholders can access Kanopy and sign up to begin streaming films instantly by visiting denverlibrary.kanopy.com. Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the free Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku.
Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films and world cinema with collections from Kino Lorber, The Criterion Collection, Music Box Films, Samuel Goldwyn, The Orchard, The Great Courses, PBS and thousands of independent filmmakers.
Parents can select from a curated selection of educational and enriching videos on Kanopy Kids. Kanopy Kids highlights films and TV series that inspire and inform, helping children develop empathy, mindfulness and self-esteem through entertaining and educational videos. Films include literary classics like Charlotte’s Web, PBS TV Series like Caillou and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, and Language Learning series like Muzzy and Little Pim.
With the motto of “thoughtful entertainment,” Kanopy provides Denver Public Library customers with access to films of unique social and cultural value; films that are often difficult or impossible to access elsewhere and programming that features diversity, with a wide array of foreign language films and films on race and current affairs.
To access, all you need is your library card.
1. Go to denverlibrary.kanopy.com
2. Click “Sign Up” in upper right hand corner of screen
3. Fill out the requested fields in the account creation form
4. You will be sent a verification email to your email address.
5. Enter your library card information
6. Call your local library with any questions you might have.
With Kanopy you can:
• Watch up to eight films per month.
• You have three days to watch each film. Once you press play on a film, you have three days to view it as many times as you like without using another play credit.
• Play credits reset on the first of each month.
• You can access Kanopy from any device, including iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku and Chromecast.
All of the films in Kanopy also come with Public Performance Rights. Public Performance Rights give us the ability to publicly show a film or video here at the library. The following films are all available in Kanopy, and will be shown at the Park Hill Branch Library with a discussion following:

We’ll travel from Park Hill to the Pauline Robinson branch highlighting our lovely neighborhood. The full loop will be 3.42 miles, with an option to do half, ending at the Park Hill branch if you arrange for transportation. Highlights will include Little Free Libraries, the Dahlia Center for Health and Well-Being, the Park Hill Community Bookstore, exciting alley art and fun historical facts.

Reproductive Rights with the ACLU of Colorado | Wednesday, Oct. 10, 6:30 p.m.
Reproductive rights allow individuals, especially women, the right to form intimate relationships and to decide whether and when to have children. American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado reps will share how they work to protect and expand reproductive rights, promoting contraceptive access, blocking abortion restrictions, advocating for healthy sex education, and protecting the right to parent.
I Am Not Your Negro Film & Discussion | Saturday, Oct. 13, 2:30 p.m.
Watch the Oscar-nominated best documentary, completed from an unfinished James Baldwin manuscript and narrated by Samuel L. Jackson. The film juxtaposes race in modern day America with the Civil Rights era. The Rights of Non-Citizens w/ the ACLU of Colorado | Wednesday, Oct. 17, 6:30 p.m.
The U.S. Constitution guarantees fundamental rights to every person in this country, regardless of immigration status. ACLU of Colorado reps will share how they work to uphold the due process and equal protection clauses embodied in the Bill of Rights, and address detention, labor laws, and the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition of warrantless intrusions into private homes.

The Constitution protects Americans’ right to due process of law and humane treatment during incarceration regardless of race, socioeconomic status, age, gender, or sexual orientation.
