It’s Kuhl To Recycle: 50 Million Pounds
We Don’t Waste Aims To Get Food Into People, Not Landfills
By Mark Kuhl | For the GPHN
We Don’t Waste has been recovering quality unused food in Denver since 2009, gathering food from grocery stores and restaurants that would otherwise have been sent to the landfill. The food is then transported to more than 100 hunger relief organizations, including soup kitchens, school food pantries, shelters and food banks. We Don’t Waste also brings mobile food markets to food deserts. The company says it’s recovered more than 50 million pounds of food since 2009; three years ago their operations had grown to the point where they moved into its 30,000-square-foot food recovery hub at 6090 E. 39th Ave. They will only pick up food from existing partners. But if you have excess, they will accept donations of sealed and unused foods. Call 720-943-2690 for details.
