Feeding on the Wing
The nests of Barn Swallows are made of mud, and cemented to the undersides of bridges and other structures with grass and feathers. When these babies are big enough to get their own breakfast they will flit through the air, aerobically twisting and turning and snagging insects as they go. These Barn Swallows were photographed at Golden Ponds in Longmont by Park Hill resident Mark Silverstein.
