Do You Have What It Takes?
Contest For Best Alley Art Returns
by Jack and Pam Farrar
Have you or someone you know installed interesting art in your alley and/or on a fence? Then, you are eligible for the 2016 Park Hill Alley/Fence Art Contest. Yes, the contest for best alley art is rearing its strange head again after a brief hiatus.
Virtually any kind of art will be considered for the contest. In fact, weirdness may give you an edge. Judges (that is to say the two of us) will be looking for recycled material, surprising use of found objects, originality, use of color and creative media in our deliberations.
Professional art will be considered and appreciated, but we’re really seeking funk and humor from the masses.
Prizes will include gift certificates donated by local merchants.
Past winners have included youngsters and seniors, and groups of alley neighbors who collaborated on creating original works.
We have already begun scouting around Park Hill for likely suspects, and updating our “directory” of installations. But to make certain we don’t miss anything or anyone, please contact us at 720-879-2676 or denverfarrar@comcast.net.
Winners will be announced in the September issue of the Greater Park Hill News, and a directory of art will be posted. You may want to include checking out the various alley/fence art while you’re out and about enjoying the annual Park Hill Home Tour and Street Fair on Sept. 11.
