Diaries, Pirates and Star Wars, Oh My!
By Tara Bannon Williamson, Senior Librarian
The summer might be almost over, but the fun at the library never ends! Be sure to stop by and get prizes from the Summer Reading program for babies through next year’s High School Seniors by August 10. Even though the Summer Reading program is ending, we will be hosting the following fun events just around the corner!
Join us for the Park Hill Branch Library’s new Pajama Storytime on Wednesdays at 6:30pm with stories, songs, and fun for all ages. Come in your pajamas and feel free to bring your stuffed animals and blankies! We are excited to try this new time slot to make storytime accessible to parents and caregivers who are unable to attend our morning sessions.
On Friday, August 9 at 3pm we will be having a Diary Day Event. We will be celebrating the popular diary books (such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries, Stick Dog and Ellie McDoodle) with fun activities and crafts. In September, we will be celebrating Talk Like a Pirate Day with a swashbuckling event for all ages. In October, we are looking forward to our 2nd annual Star Wars Reads Day event. These events celebrate reading and provide what literacy lingo terms “Print Motivation” and promote children being actively involved and interested in selecting what they read. Bring your family and have fun together while creating lifelong memories in a literacy-rich environment!
