The Great Denver Cleanup
Spring is coming, and that means it’s time for some scrubbing. This year’s annual Great Denver Cleanup is Saturday, April 26, so start planning your neighborhood and block cleanups now. The event, sponsored by Keep Denver Beautiful/Denver Solid Waste Management, includes numerous free drop sites set up around the city for Denver residents and neighborhood groups to bring excess household debris and yard waste for disposal and recycling. Drop site locations will be announced in the April issue of GPHN. For more information contact Neddra Niblet at 303-446-3557 or neddra.niblet@denvergov.org.
What to Do About City Park Loop?
The next city-sponsored meeting about how – and whether – the tabled City Park Loop project should move forward is Wednesday, March 12. The public meeting is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Bogey’s on the Park, at 26th & York streets. A free taco bar will be available. The $5 million project was initially envisioned to transform the Dustin Redd playground into a regional attraction and adventureland, but was put on hold after neighborhood groups – including Greater Park Hill Community – protested. (For more information, check out the article on the City Park Loop in the December issue of GPHN, at greaterparkhill.org). The city parks and recreation department is now seeking additional information and opinions before making a decision on how to proceed. Show up and make your opinions known.
