Soul Sisters At Montview Pres.
On Sunday, Aug. 21, Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church will offer a special opportunity to have a conversation on racism and privilege – issues that so often divide our country, our communities and our churches, issues in the headlines, and issues closer to home in our hearts. Guest speakers Reverend Tawana Davis and Reverend Dawn Riley Duval will preach that Sunday at Montview’s 9:30 a.m. service and lead a workshop after church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Brunch will be served. “This workshop will help us think about how our faith is informed and challenged by Jesus’ call to love our neighbor and to ‘have eyes to see’ our own bias and racism,” says Reverend Ian Cummins. “Specifically, we will have the chance to learn more about Black liberation work and the Black Lives Matter movement here in our neighborhood.” Rev. Davis and Rev. Duval are womanist theologians, preachers and activists who bring gifts of warmth, humor and authenticity to help congregations create an atmosphere where all voices are heard and honored. They are the co-founders of Soul2Soul (soul2soulsisters.com).
