Get Ready For July 4th
The Park Hill 4th of July Parade is back! This community-friendly, Greater Park Hill Community, Inc.-sponsored event will again be marching along 23rd Avenue from Dexter to Krameria Street on Independence Day. Registration for participants is open, so start planning. Last year’s parade included marchers, bikers, floats and classic cars. This year’s parade should be even bigger, with marching bands, acrobats and … more floats! The 2016 Parade will start at 1:30 p.m. Staging for participants will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Dexter between 23rd and Montview Boulevard. If you have any questions, contact parade organizers at 303-918-6517 or parkhillparade@gmail.com. See you on the 4th.

Empire Lyric Players Return
If you’ve no objection to fun, you’ve been summoned to witness a double-bill that is sure to appeal to audiences of all ages. If the Empire Lyric Players are guilty of too many puns in a sentence, they plead that you won’t let that affect your judgment and that you will give these actors a fair hearing. The Empire Lyric Players have been producing community theater in Denver since 1958. The troupe presents Trial by Jury at the Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church Theater, 1980 Dahlia St., on June 16, 17 and 18 at 7 p.m., and June 19 at 2 p.m. The plot involves a rowdy jury that hears the case of “breach of promise of marriage” from the beautiful and sympathetic Angelina … but, is the would-be groom even worth the trouble? Tickets are $15; $12 for senior and children, and can be purchased at elps.org/tickets
Welcome to the Dahl House
The Denver Film Society’s summer family program, Welcome to the Dahl House, highlights seven family friendly films from the beloved children’s author, Roald Dahl. Each week the Denver Film Society will screen a film on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. All tickets are $5 (children 6 and under are free) and include an all-you-can-eat cereal bar beginning at 10 a.m. The series will kick off Saturday, June 4 with the 1971 classic, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. In the spirit of the series opener, the Society will host a Sie FilmCenter Golden Ticket contest. Children who attend the program will have the opportunity to enter to win the golden ticket, which will allow them and up to three friends or family members a behind-the-scenes tour of the Sie FilmCenter, where they will learn about projection, popping popcorn, and selling tickets. The day will culminate with a screening of a film of their choosing on the big screen at the Sie, which will be open to the public and to the winners’ friends and family. The series includes screenings of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (June 4), Matilda (June 11), The BFG (June 18), Fantastic Mr. Fox (July 2), The Witches (July 9), and James and the Giant Peach (July 23). In addition, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will screen on July 16. Dahl wrote the screenplay for the 1968 film. Tickets are on sale now at DenverFilm.org or at the Sie FilmCenter box office, 2510 E. Colfax Ave.
